I think it's about time that you get yourself out of the classes about "social justice" and get a real education about the evils of the real world. Thousands of people are dead as a result of this scumbag. He is a war criminal who deserves nothing more than what we gave past war criminals--a speedy trial by military tribunal and execution by some humane method.

If anyone in the global community requires proof that America is "better" than al-Qaeda, that we shouldn't stoop to their level, they're the ones with an issue. It seems that you're one of these people: let's hold a civilian trial for enemy combatants who killed 3,000 innocent Americans just to prove that we're better than they are! Give me a break, that's absurd.

At this point, it's silly to think that these men will be given a fair trial in a civilian court anyway. Attorney General Holder and President Obama himself have said that they're certain KSM will be convicted. And if he isn't? Well he'll just remain in prison. If that should happen, I'm pretty sure that would make us look even worse (since that's what you seem to be concerned with).

The fact remains, however, that these men are murderous terrorists with no regard for the life of innocent civilians and should not be given the dignity of having a civilian court and platform from which to denounce America in a public forum.

Dear Jesse: Pardon me, but I don't see how you can make that entire argument without even once referring to Holder's comments pre-judging KSM as guilty. What do they do to the quality of the case against KSM in our court system? You know in your heart of hearts they weaken it. And what do the prejudicial statements convey to those young, hairy, terrorists-to-be who want to condemn our justice system? His statements affirm their condemnation, of course. And, furthermore, you confess great pride in and confidence about our justice system: did anyone tell you OJ got acquitted? Her blood was in his car! He was almost as guilty as a murderer gets, but he walked!
For these reasons, I don't find your paean to the US justice system very compelling. I shudder to thrust a KSM into it, and I think it typical of dreamy-eyed, to say nothing of the cunningly destructive, political liberals among us.

One more thing. What do you think an aspiring teenage terrorist is going to think when he sees KSM on trial, sentenced to die while shouting "Allah Akbar". Do you think he is going to think to himself "Oh wow, the American judicial system is so nice and fair and respectable. Maybe I won't blow up their big buildings today after all". No, he is going to feel the same patriotism that most Americans feel when we hear about the brave act of an American soldier in combat. He's gonna want that recognition and fame himself. A public KSM trial will only inspire a new generation of terrorists.

Wow, I don't think I have read the word "I" so many times in one article. I would think there are more important things to consider than your personal feelings about the United States and our justice system. KSM was waterboarded and not read Miranda rights. Therefore, the confession he gave would not be accepted in a normal criminal court. The physical evidence presented against him would not be accepted in a normal criminal court because it would lack the proper paper trail which it needed. Is he guilty? Of course. Will he be executed? Yes. There is no way in the world to find him a jury that will acquit. It will also make the trial look like a sham while giving him his final wish to become a martyr. We will also lose millions in productivity and resources because of the terror threat on that day. And finally, KSM is not a criminal, not even a POW. He is a terrorist and treating him any different sets a horrible precedent.

On a side note I chuckled a bit when I read your bio on the Politicizer page about how you were "horrified by the American exceptionalist attitude". I think if we met I might horrify you a little.
